Let us look at some interesting smoking facts. Smoking is considered a recreational activity. In most cases, people who smoke choose cigarettes as their weapon of choice for the body. The smoke is “tasted” through inhalation and a buzz or high is felt in the body. Tobacco addiction is addiction to nicotine, a substance found in cigarettes, and is just as strong as being hooked to heroin or cocaine despite the fact that this drug is legal and sold in nearly every store in the world.
Where Did Smoking Start?
The first smokers started around 5000 BC. Tobacco was a wild growing plant and someone, somewhere decided to dry and smoke the plant and thus smoking began. The original tobacco plants started in Peru and Ecuador. Just 4000 years ago, cannabis, or marijuana, was a commonly smoked herb in all of India.
At first, smoking was not a recreational activity. Tribes used smoking as a way to talk with the Gods. This religious affiliation transformed over time and eventually manifested into the everyday activity it is today. The acceptance of smoking has run the full gambit as well. The terms holy, sinful, vulgar, deadly, health hazard among others have been linked to the act of smoking.

The smoking risks are many and they include lung cancer, emphysema, heart attacks, bad skin, bad teeth, bad breath, birth defect, low birth weight babies, shortened life span, throat cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, smelly clothes, poor circulation, poor reproductive chances and more.
There is no one way that will stop a smoker from smoking. The only thing that will stop a smoker is help through stop smoking program. The right ways of quitting cigarettes are out there and they work. The method for one may not be the method for another and even people who feel they have tried everything can be helped. Your heart, your body and your loved ones would love to see you quit smoking.
