Smoking Teenagers – Effects and Benefits of Quitting
Teenage statistics show that there is a figure of over 4,000 smoking teenagers between ages 12 and 17 who start the tobacco addiction daily in the USA. Most of these kids start this habit as a way of copying what the adults are doing. While others are curious from the many ways the media portrays smoking as a pleasurable habit.
However the good news is that there has been a decrease in the number of teens who are starting this habit. With the recent campaigns on the harmful relationship between cancer and tobacco smoking many people are now aware of the dangers of smoking.
For many kids the following are the short term effect that you will experience when you start smoking.
- Bad breath
- Yellow teeth
- Smelly clothes and smelly body sweat and odor
- Frequent colds and coughs
- Shortness of breath especially whilst playing sports
- It is an expensive habit ,cigarettes are costly.
It is important to note that cigarette smoking has been the main cause of most premature deaths in the developed world. It is the most prominent cause of many types of cancer and other health problems, including lung disease, heart and blood vessel disease and stroke among others.
Stopping to smoke immediately reduces your risk of these serious health problems
When you stop smoking your body responds within hours by normalizing your blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature from the elevated levels caused by the nicotine. Your breathing gets easier as your blood carries more oxygen to the body and your body starts to cleanse itself of the toxins from the nicotine toxins.
It is a challenge to quit smoking and sometimes many attempts are often necessary to finally “quit the habit.”
Many smoking teenagers have chosen to stop using cigarettes and have managed to quit the habit.
Work a stop smoking plan and follow through never quitting but trying many ways to stop smoking until you finally make it. You can do it, try it!
