The Effects of Smoking on Beauty

One of the effects of smoking that people never think about is on beauty. Years ago there was a commercial that would run over and over again about the “Dragon Lady”. This lady would walk around a restaurant and smoke a cigarette while dancing to music. She put out her cigarette in a person’s slice of pizza and swore she was the greatest person on earth and so very cool just because she smoked. Everyone thought she was ugly for being a smoker. They have no idea how right they really were.

Smoking causes a decrease in blood flow to the entire body. While the medical community most often focuses on the health smoking risks, it is the beauty risks that are the most noticeable to those around you.

Teeth – The teeth will turn a yellow color within a few months of smoking. There are no toothpastes that will brighten that smile, photos will suddenly become less vibrant and the enamel on the teeth will soften increasing the risk of cavities.

Skin – Due to the decrease in circulation, the skin will lose the elasticity that comes with being young far more quickly than it normally would. You will first notice a few wrinkles here and there and then the dryness will begin. Finally, the skin will just droop down and you will have aged 10 years in only a few short months.

The Smell – The worst beauty no-no is smelling bad. Bad breath is directly related to cigarette smoking but so is bad body odor. No perfume can cover the smell of smoke on clothing, skin and hair. Even though you think that bottle of perfume is hiding something, you are mistaken. Flowery smoke is the outcome and everyone will smell you coming from a mile away.

The effects of smoking on the inside are horrid, but the effects of smoking on the outside are the ones everyone will see.
